5 Reasons I am a Journal Addict.

There are a million and one reasons why I love journals …and organizers but I will share the top 5 reasons why I currently have 4 journals and counting.

Why I am a Journal Addict: Reason 1: Writing down my goals, plans, tasks, bills and ideas is half the work done. Before I write down anything, I tend to overthink it. Then the negative vibes take over. Then procrastination arrives and the idea is dead on arrival. However, when I write it down, I birth it. It becomes a “thing”. I am forced to nurture it through my pages till I check it, I check it only because it’s accomplished. Journals help me keep myself accountable.

Why I am a Journal Addict: Reason 2: Journals keep me organised. Every month I write downs headers. Headers can be a goal or a part of my life. This month my headers were IT Certification, Career, 40TH Dinner, Blog, Family Wellness, Mauritius 2020, Children, My Son’s College Prep and there is always Misc. Under the headers, I write tasks that need to be completed. As I plan, I express my thoughts with motivational quotes, bible verses or little scripts.

Why I am a Journal Addict: Reason 3: Clarity. I am a dreamer and God gifts me with ideas literally every second. It took me a while to realise that I really do not have to pursue every great idea. Writing down ideas forces me to think them through. I have to consider the relevance, timing, profitability, purpose and my core values (just learned about this). Considering the logistics required to accomplish projects help you see the bigger picture. Cheers to no abandoned projects in 2019.

Why I am a Journal Addict: Reason 4: There are many ways to pray but I love to write letters to God. I pour out my heart in words and even read through to make sure I covered all bases. Its kinda scary to write your heart out because of fear of losing the journals or the wrong person getting hold of it, well I created a code when I was 9 years old. LOL! Journals help you map out the journey to completion and preview necessary steps. With my steps outlined, I am able to pray before every move. Journals are also very therapeutic. Its always great to let it all out.

Why I am a Journal Addict 5: I love ready past entries. It’s really cool to keep look back and see how far I have come. What used to matter, what was neglected and how I handled issues. Basically, how I have evolved and grown over the years. Sometimes, there are lesson learned; other times its just intriguing how I handled situations and scaled through. I am positive that my great great grand children will be enthralled by my journals.

In summary, journals help me stay on track emotionally, spiritually, financially and creatively. It help me be the best version of ME.

  1. Congratulations Soma. This is amazing. I enjoyed reading your posts. Yes, I am a journal person too. I still have the journals I used when I was pregnant for my daughter 8 years ago. I love my “To do list” and it gives me great joy to check items off the list. I love to write down my dreams and aspirations. I write down prayer points and pray over them.
I am super proud of you and I know you have all it takes to do this. Looking forward to more posts.
